Our Rose Wines

Rose wines acquire some coloring from the grape skins of the grapes that were used to make them. Rose is the oldest known wine, and the easiest type to make. Our selection of rose wines includes dry wines, bright and fruity wines, and offerings with a rich and smooth flavor.

How Rose Wine is Made

The most common method of making rose wines is to press red grapes after a short period of maceration (skin contact). The maceration period allows the phenolics in the wine to come through and is what contributes to the coloring of the wine itself. There are some other ways of making ine, such as the saignee method, and the vin gris method.

The signee method involves 'bleeding off' some of the juice in order to concentrate the phenolics, making the wine more vividly colored. Meanwhile, the vin gris method involves the pressing of red grapes without any prior maceration time. This creates a wine that is a very pale pink. The French wine laws dictate that a wine labeled gris de gris must be made from pale/lightly tinted grapes, such as Gamay or Cinsault.

Our Wine Selection

We choose only the best rose wines, from respected vineyards. Our wine club will help you to find wines that you may otherwise have overlooked, and expose you to new tastes and stunning flavors. Rose wines are varied in their make-up, texture and notes. Take, for example, the Henri Gaillard Rose, which has a spicy aroma and intense flavor. Contrast that with the citrus and orange blossom undertones of the Champs De Provence Rose, which is one of our more popular medium-bodied wines and you will see the variety available.

La Sablette Rose is a nice choice for those who prefer something more delicate and soft, while Clarendelle is a stunning tropical and tanging drink.
