Characterized by abundant yields, optimal ripeness and outstanding flavor, the 2021 vintage delivered wines of exceptional quality. The near-perfect growing season showcased warm days and temperate evenings with minimal late-season pressure, which allowed vineyards in Dundee Hills to flourish and produce grapes in pristine condition. When September arrived, a gentle coolness created an extended ripening period that allowed the grapes to develop flavor and mature tannins. A touch of fall rain mid-harvest allowed us to extend the picking window slightly as our sites remained resilient, and the resulting wines benefitted with an increase in concentration and refined structure.
The 2021 Twomey Dundee Hills Pinot Noir embodies elegance and complexity with captivating aromas and a palate that harmoniously balances richness and freshness. Flavors of ripe black cherry and a hint of cocoa result in a delightful chemistry between fruit and depth. Black tea and bramble round out an enticing layer of velvety richness, and the aromatic journey is completed with a subtle suggestion of spice. The acidity of this Pinot Noir is beautifully balanced and linear, drawing out the red berry flavors and lending a refreshing vibrancy to each sip.
